Dating/relationship movies can be a ton of fun because they are relatable. Everyone dates and there’s no getting around that statement. Everyone doesn’t have super powers, fight in wars, or are the next action hero, so a dating film is something everyone can appreciate. While the first 10 seconds of the film started out great with guy locker room talk about the previous night. The following seconds after turned into a crash and burn into a cage of meat hungry gorillas. I’m still asking myself what happened to the realism, and if Kevin Hart (who I am a huge fan of) can pull off acting on screen instead of just stand up. This film was extremely disappointing with characters I hated who didn’t act at all, but instead just screamed. Now don’t get me wrong. If you are a diehard Kevin Hart fan and just want to see Kevin Hart be Kevin Hart, you may still have a good time. Unfortunately for me I wanted more than that. I wanted a real love story that’s makes sense not just puppy love. I wanted characters I could possibly relate to and compare stories with later. I wanted a plot that made sense and editing that didn’t give me a headache. I didn’t get any of this from About Last night. What I got was unstable characters with no outlook on life and a bunch of screaming. I honestly feel the director said, If you forgot your lines just scream and I’ll do the rest”. Really? Two of the main characters where drunk and fucking 90% the movie. It was all over the top and obnoxious and the other too fell in love after a five minute conversation and decided to move in together. There was a high amount of wasted food and more screaming. One scene that bugged me the most are two grown adults making out in a movie theater in the middle of the auditorium like they’re in Jr. High. No one is going to do that but I have to believe it b/c they’re comedians. One main character couldn’t get over a breakup that initially transpired 1.5 years ago but still wanted to hold on to it at 2.5 years. He’s in a new relationship and his woman is trying to give him the world but he’s acting like a frail little girl clinging to the past. I’ve never in my life seen editing this bad as well. They may have called in chop city practice because that’s what it felt like. I done with this. I won’t give this an F because honestly some of the jokes were funny and I chuckled a few times, but it didn’t fit well into the context of the film and felt more like a sketch. I’m routing for you Kevin Hart, but unfortunately not for this film.

My Rating : 4 / 10
